Low risk NIPT Results
You have received a "low risk" result on your non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT).
A low risk NIPT result
- means that the chance for trisomy 21, trisomy 18 or trisomy 13 is generally less than 1:10,000 (does not mean that the chance is zero)
- does not guarantee the baby will be born without other genetic conditions or any health concerns
Next Steps
If your NIPT result is "low risk", your health-care provider will continue to provide routine care. It is recommended that you have a nuchal translucency (NT) ultrasound between 11 and 14 weeks of pregnancy, as part of this routine care.
Other types of prenatal genetic screening (eFTS or MSS) are not needed or recommended if you've already had a "low risk" NIPT.
