Allo-FBGG Test Failed or Inconclusive
What the result means
A "Failed" or "Inconclusive" Allo-FBGG result means that the test could not determine your baby's blood group antigen status and if your baby is at risk for hemolytic disease of the fetus and newborn (HDFN).
Next steps
Your health-care provider may:
- ask you to repeat the test, or
- treat your pregnancy as if your baby is antigen-positive and monitor for signs of HDFN.
Monitoring may include:

- blood tests to check for antibody levels in your blood
- specialized ultrasounds to measure blood flow to the baby
- referral to a Maternal–Fetal Medicine (MFM) specialist.
At delivery
A small blood sample will be collected from the umbilical cord to confirm your baby’s antigen status. The results may be used to guide newborn care and may be shared with the testing laboratory for quality checks.
